Vagaries of practice and life

The main reason for the dearth of posting is that my life is incredibly dull, and the parts that aren't dull are protected by privilege or would be mortally embarrassing to me or someone close to me.  Seriously, I laugh a lot and I have fun, but you'd never know it from most of these blog posts.  If you're local, take me to lunch and I promise to be infinitely more interesting.  I know all of the places in the Pearl to eat for less than $10, but if you take me to Andina, there's no telling what I'll say.

And now the news.  So, our client vanished temporarily, and the trial I'd been killing myself to get ready for, set for Tuesday and Wednesday this week?  Is now reset until the end of April....at least everything is ready.

We have two very, very big cases that are consuming most of my time - constitutional issues, privilege issues, constitutional privilege issues - which I love working on.  Love.  Would do it for free, if-only-I-didn't-have-to-put-gas-in-the-car-and-eat kind of love. Except that today I spent 2.5 hours researching new laser printers, because ours decided to go kaput right in the middle of my printing out mammoth SCOTUS decisions on all those delicious privilege issues.  I walked down to the office supply place and bought a new printer (boss to reimburse tomorrow), then used an IKEA cart to wheel it back to the office, past all the hipsters.  I felt slightly like a dork, but I often feel slightly like a dork in the Pearl.  Anyhow, I set the thing up and got it networked and got the drivers loaded on other computers...and never did get back to those SCOTUS cases.  Tomorrow.

Hopefully tomorrow, I won't wake up an hour late and end up stuck behing schoolbuses.  Fingers crossed.  It was a long, long commute in this time. On the positive side of things, I always get to play with Peach and get kisses when she and Matthew drop me at the office.

Goodbye kiss Peach has started bringing home this season's daycare viruses.  I was doing OK, until one turned into a sinus and ear infection - right in the middle of trial prep.  I ended up in urgent care Saturday morning and saw one of the same doctors who was part of my massive spring day care virus saga (how sad that he remembered me - I was in there a lot).   I am taking massive doses of Augmentin and a cough suppressent.  Good times.

I wish I had enough spare time to fill out my ballot and send it in. Maybe this weekend: I am going to do whatever I can to skip working this weekend and spending more time with Peach at the park.  We had a blast on the slides last weekend!

What else?  Peach wore her "My Mama is For Obama '08" t-shirt to daycare today.  To make absolutely clear there would be no violations of the Hatch Act, we put her in a sweater on the way into daycare and out (she is in a federal building where Matthew works).  More drama: I cleaned my office. We had sushi because I was too tired to cook. I learned I am supposed to be having some professional clean my furnace every year, but haven't in the five years of homeownership.  The Volvo S40 (the rental) is a blast (I miss having a vehicle that corners well), but I really, really want mine back from the auto body place.  [I am sooo annoyed at the woman who opened her car door as I pulled into the parking spot - and even more annoyed that apparently it's a matter of comparative negligence.  Huh?  Like HOW was I supposed to see that when I was already 2/3 of the way in the place?!]

Like I said.  LUNCH people.  Take me to lunch, and I'll tell you the good stuff!

Lunch sounds good to me! Do you want to make it a play date?
